My Foot

Every Day Matters #23 - Draw your foot. 6" x 8" drawing paper, graphite pencil, violet marker. Oct. 1, 2012.

"This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home, and this little piggy went wee wee wee all the way home!" It was hard to get a good view of my foot, and to turn it just so, hard to get the "right" perspective. I love the touch of hot violet marker! My toenails are so tiny, almost nonexistent, and my foot is short and wide.

Every Day Matters Challenge #8 - Draw your watch or other jewelry. 6" x 8" drawing paper, pencil sketch, Pigma pen, metallic silver marker. Aug. 31, 2012.

"This was actually quiet simple, pencil and pen, then highlighted with silver metallic and white gel pens. A light green colored pencil on the screen, added a little focus. The computer scan probably won't pick up the silver and green. I have had four of these Timex Indiglo watches. They all keep on ticking, but the chrome peals off and gets sharp edges." I like wearing a big "men's" watch, it has a large face, and the light helps me see the time when I am driving my school bus in the dark.

Sugar, Creamer and Lamp

Sitting in the Tee Pee Tavern, bored, going to do some sketching, I start with the table lamp, it has nice curves, and details. I add the sugar, creamer and stacked coffee cups for balance, even though they were on opposite ends of the bar from the lamp. Just a quickie.

Umpqua Indians

Sitting in the Tee Pee Tavern, getting out my sketchbook of water color paper, trying to find something to draw. The Umpqua Indian Beef Jerky sign caught my attention. Their logo is an Indian head with one feather, and a bone bead choker. In an oval with UMPQUA INDIAN BEEF JERKY written around it. I sketched with pencil then went over it with Pigma pen. It is ok for a quick sketch, and sitting far away from the object, so detail was difficult to see. The Indian maiden looking over the cliff, was on another day, it is a vintage print in a small oval frame, also hard to see because of the distance behind the bar and the small size. I worked longer on this one, trying to get the detail right. Pencil sketch with Pigma pen. In old watercolor the picture is quiet enchanting, in pen and ink, not so much, but it was a fun challenge.
