Toucan

8" x 10" double journal page, pencil sketch, watercolor paints, colored pens, Pigma pen. Feb. 10, 2013.
Painted from a magazine photograph. "When I first met Charlie, we saw a baby toucan in a pet store. It was adorable, it would rub it's beak on you and had the most beautiful violet eyes. We would have taken it in a flash if we had two grand! It was love at first sight, but I can't imagine having something like that in the house, it should be in a jungle. And I would have felt terrible guilt if it died and I felt it was my fault for having something wild in my home, and that I could not care for it properly. But I still remember the violet eyes!
